Common Questions

Why do we experience discolored water occasionally?
Our water system is designed to serve over 400 homes.  Because we are running at 50% of capacity, iron from the water settles to the bottom of tanks and pipes.  When there is a substantial increase in water demand or a new home is hooked up to the water system it stirs up the settled iron resulting in discolored water.  This is typical when we flush fire hydrants (notice is given) or when the Ixonia fire department practices using their equipment (no notice is given).  The water is perfectly safe, but it will potentially stain laundry.
 
Does our water system add fluoride to the water? 
No. The water system only adds a very small amount of chlorine or bleach to ensure clean water.
